Shelton Investigative Services (SIS) was founded by Jon Shelton in 2017 after almost 30 years of local and federal law enforcement experience. Jon was a police officer in Cobb County, in Atlanta, Georgia for six years and a United States Secret Service Special Agent for almost 21 years. Jon has been assigned to work complex federal crimes in Atlanta, Georgia and Charlotte, NC. Jon has been assigned to work protective details with every living President and was assigned to President George W Bush’s protective detail while on the Presidential Protective Division before, during, and after 9/11; working executive protection at the highest levels.

• Overpowered and arrested a knife-wielding suspect as first responder to report of domestic violence/unwanted visitor
• Quelled riots involving gunshots and knife fights with injuries as first responder. Provided initial first aid, identified and arrested suspects, created a crime scene perimeter, secured evidence and interviewed witnesses.
• Responded to an armed robbery in progress. Pursued the gun-wielding suspect via vehicle and foot chase. Confronted and apprehended the suspect.
Investigated and identified three suspects convicted of money laundering, fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud, passing forged securities and mail theft totaling $655,876.04. Convictions resulted in sentences up to 72 months.
† Conducted surveillance and multiple interviews after identifying 15 suspects for cashing $5M in fraudulently obtained US Treasury tax rebate checks. Interagency initiative resulted in sentences up to 48 months plus restitution.
† Apprehended the suspect ultimately convicted of forgery and deposit of a $588,223.00 corporate check, convicted of forgery of corporate securities. Sentenced to 6 months in prison and restitution.
† Liaised with Lenoir, NC Police Department to uncover a wire fraud scheme via telephone involving social engineering, targeting elderly victims in Michigan, Virginia and Colorado by claiming to be distressed relatives in need.
† Arrested three suspects convicted of defrauding the United States of $1.33M (plus mail fraud and wire fraud) through several limited liability corporations including a shell trucking company using false billing.
† Deliver officer training and public presentations including recruiting at middle school and high school events, and training Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Officers on mutual cooperation with the Secret Service.

Part of the vehicle ambush countermeasures training includes backing up the vehicle quickly in reverse, then sharply turning the wheel while shifting into drive, resulting in the vehicle changing into a 180 degree J-turn so we can relocate a protectee to a safe area.
